Color Reinforcement

This was an activity that I sent in to The Mailbox: Preschool and it was published.

I created foam squares in the colors I wished to reinforce.  We placed them in front of us and as we said each color in the song the children were encouraged to touch each corresponding square.  To reinforce left to right and top to bottom progression we did a quick review of colors and placed them in order first.

Tune:  Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Red, yellow, green and blue; green and blue.
Red, yellow, green and blue; green and blue.
Orange, and purple, black, white and brown.
Red, yellow, green and blue; green and blue.

You can use actual objects in corresponding colors, have children create color collage pages, or create textured shapes to use with the song.
